Travies, Charles Joseph (Switzerland, 1804-1859) Original pen and ink drawing (no printing), Caricature, tall thin man. signed C.J. Travies (bottom left). Acquired on the estate of George Longstreet, a renowned collector of fine original artwork and prints whose collection has appeared in dozens of museums and exhibitions over the past four decades. The last photo is a sample of elements of the farm, which is not included in this list. Charles Joseph Travies de Villers known as Travies, was a French caricaturist and painter. He founded and was a prolific contributor to the popular magazine Charivari (1831) and drew for caricature (1838). His witty burlesques of Parisian life were very popular. He helped illustrate works by Balzac (1848-55).
