8 Sevres Directoire Hand Painted Porcelain Dessert Plates 1795. Each decorated with hand painted florals, gilt accents. Various artists marks including those for Charles-Nicolas Buteux fils aîné or l’aîné (active 1763-1801), Leopold Weydinger (active 1778-1804), Mlle Durosey la jeune, (active 1797-98). Sevres marks, RF for Republique Francaise, various incised marks. From a service discussed by Peters, noting the decoration corresponds to design 'no. 154' in the album of plate designs at the Sèvres archives. No. 154 denotes a service recorded in the Sèvres sales registers as sold on 25 Frimaire IV (16th December 1795) to the Directoire Exécutif, described in the sales registers as a 24-place dessert service decorated with 'deux zônes Bleu avec desjolies frises d'or dessus une guirlande souvenir carmin au Pourtour des Pièces et fleurs de réponses sur le Blanc', and was delivered to the Directoire in the period 4 Brumaire IV to 1 Vendémiaire V (26th October 1795 to 22nd September 1796). A bottle cooler from this service was in the Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle, England.

Condition: utensil marks to center, moderate to heavy gilt loss to rims and decoration, 3 plates with flake chips to the rim that have been gilt over, one plate with production flaw to the rim as made. Please refer to photos.
